Digital Plebiscite for Colombia

The Digital Plebiscite for Colombia is a platform in which Colombian citizens can symbolically vote online to approve or reject the "Final Agreement for the Termination of the Conflict and the Construction of a Stable and Durable Peace", negotiated and signed between the National Government and the FARC, the largest guerrilla group in Colombia, after 52 years of internal armed conflict. The Digital Plebiscite takes place within the framework of the national plebiscite at the polls convened by the President of Colombia, Juan Manuel Santos, on October 2, 2016. It is an initiative that symbolically seeks to ensure that Colombians who cannot vote in the ballot boxes, either because they are abroad or for other reasons, have the possibility of having their voices heard when voting online. The initiative was created and supported by different civil society organizations as a means to promote an open and online participatory democracy, but it has no power to influence the results of voting at the polls.
