Pontos de Cultura

The Pontos de Cultura (lit. Culture Spots) program consists in the Ministry of Culture of Brazil (MinC) financing cultural collectives via open tender. It aims to develop actions with sociocultural impacts on communities by funding collectives or social organizations focused on culture. The goal is to promote a collaborative, participatory and horizontal agenda on cultural production and dialogueue with society. Normally, the Culture Spots are installed in houses or cultural centers, where debates, lectures, self-management cultural experiences and workshops are organized by society, while seeking to increasingly involve citizens in the practice of collaborative cultural actions. By 2014, 4.5 thousand Spots of Culture had received funding from the Ministry of Culture.
