Catia TVE

Catia TVE is a television channel from the Catia neighborhood in Caracas. Catia residents run it, design it and render up to 70 percent of the programming through community organizations. In this way, between 45 and 50 Independent Community Audiovisual Production Teams were formed, consisting of 4 or 5 people each, who after passing through a training workshop in audiovisual production start to produce content. The themes covered by these Independent Community Audiovisual Production Teams cover a variety of topics, but, above all, highlight issues related to health, education, environment, work and housing, giving voice and space to the cultural, ethnic and generational minorities of Afro, Indigenous and mestizo Venezuelans. The case of Catia Tve, along with other community radio and emerging television projects, marked a milestone in the process of democratizing the radio spectrum and was of influence in the subsequent sanction process of the "Regulation of Radio Broadcasting and Open Television Community for Non-Profit Public Service" in the year 2002.

Type of participants: those who participate are individual citizens, civil society organizations, private stakeholders or a combination of those?

Decisiveness: does the innovation takes binding, non-binding or no decision at all?
