Guide for an Inclusive Municipality
The "Guide for an Inclusive Municipality" is the result of a process of consultation, deliberation and preparation of proposals in forums and workshops with citizens and civil society organizations held in 15 departments across the country. The Guide contains 52 agreed upon proposals in these meetings, which aim to develop inclusive public policies in the municipalities. When the guide was validated and published in 2015, these guidelines were also presented to candidates running in the municipal elections in order to gain further support in improving the quality of life of people with disabilities. This is part of the monitoring process of this Guide. The NGO that led the process also runs a web platform with a map, which allows users to locate municipalities that have already committed to work for inclusion. It is also possible to sign a petition that will be sent to the elected mayor/councilor, with the request to live up to the commitment.
