Dialogue Program and Citizen Oversight on the Public Security Policy

The Dialogue Program and Citizen Oversight on the Public Security Policy in Costa Rica aims to promote a broad discussion of the sectoral policy on citizen security. It has two lines of work, the first is related to the generation of the necessary knowledge on citizen security policies, and the second is the promotion of dialogue between the Government and civil society groups interested in security policy. The program's main components are three dialogue tables on Citizen Security in the cantons of San Carlos, Desamparados and Pérez Zeledón with local stakeholders; three training courses on public security policies and civil society participation with local stakeholders; three regional dialogue workshops between representatives of public institutions and civil society on security policies; two national dialogue panels with the government, civil society, the media, cooperation agencies, among others; and a communication campaign to promote the engagement of government and civil society on the issue of citizen security policies. The project is carried out by the consortium of civil society organizations "FUNPADEM-Costa Rica Integral" and financed by the European Union.
