Ellas
Created in 2015, Ellas is an app and website that provides women in Colombia with information about different types of gender-based violence. A project by the National Women?s Network of Colombia, it aims at empowering victims of sexual, physical, economic or political violence with knowledge about what violence is about, and which authorities to reach out to. The app contains a feedback option for women to inform the Red Nacional de Mujeres about the attention they received so the Red can later influence responsible entities to comply with their obligations to protect women victim of gender-based violence. Besides the app, the project includes a website where women can access training on gender-based violence. Since 2020, the app includes a panic button to alert their chosen emergency contact as well as a geolocation tool containing the nearest emergency attention facilities. More than 15.000 users have downloaded the up since its creation until 2020.
