Techo Colombia
"Techo" came to Colombia while the initiative expended throughout the whole Latin American region. The main objective of this project is the development of precarious settlements in the country, the promotion of social action, the denunciation of the social exclusion faced by vulnerable populations, and the promotion of public policies for the eradication of poverty. The project is carried out in three phases: the first consists in the evaluation of the area; the second in the participatory planning of solutions to different problems (especially related to community infrastructure), which is carried out together with volunteers and citizens and is based on the results of the initial diagnosis; and the third phase in the implementation of said agenda. Within the framework of this methodology, Techo Colombia has built 2,653 emergency homes in 56 settlements in the country. In addition, this organization has also created community spaces for education, carried out development projects regarding legal and health matters, and developed different trainings for community leaders.
