Comment-a-thon
The Comment-a-thon is an exercise that began in 2016 when the fifth version of the "Lleras Law" was introduced, so that citizens could connect to an online discussion channel to discuss and share ideas and proposals on this legal project, which proposes that companies that provide internet services can eliminate content seemingly infringing on copyright. The methodology of the Comment-a-thon begins with the presentation of a video that opens the debate, which explains the background, the changes between the different versions of the bill and the important concepts and definitions. The participants can then send comments, questions, ideas and proposals, which others can also comment on and leave feedback. The history of the "Lleras Law" begins in the year 2011, when the first version of the bill was presented, and from that moment different organizations and groups of citizens have opposed its implementation and have sent requests for discussion and modification to the texts. However, never before had the discussion been conducted through an electronic platform to get the participation of all the citizens who wanted to contribute to the debate. Thanks to this allowance, the comments of citizens have influenced the public debate of this law.
