Municipal Councils for Citizen Security
The Municipal Councils for Citizen Security are authorities comprised of public officials from various State agencies together with direct representatives of the organized community, whose functions will be to create a Municipal Plan for Public Safety and its subsequent monitoring of compliance with targets set by the responsible authorities. The institution is framed in Law No. 18695 and Law No. 20502. In 2016, Municipal Councils for Citizen Security were registered in the municipalities of Concepción and Santiago de Chile. Municipalities that already follow Municipal Plans for Public Safety are also registered.
