Citizen Consultation on the project: Recovery of Public Spaces, Urban Mobility and the Beaches of Panama Bay
The Citizen Consultation on the project "Recovery of Public Spaces, Urban Mobility and the Beaches of Panama Bay" was convened by the Mayor of Panama in late 2019 and during the first months of 2020, in order to provide citizens with information about a project that seeks to recover public areas in Panama Bay and allow them to provide their opinions on it and raise questions. This democratic innovation establishes two participatory schemes: on the one hand, a series of face-to-face informative meetings that would end with a meeting in which the project shall be voted by show of hands. On the other, an e-participation mechanism on the City Hall?s website, which allows citizens to submit questions and opinions regarding the project, which are published and answered publicly on the website. Although some meetings to discuss the project took place, the one in which the project was going to be voted on was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The online participation mechanism, however, continues to operate.

Mode of Selection of Participants: is the innovation open to all participants, access is restricted to some kind of condition, or both methods apply?
Type of participants: those who participate are individual citizens, civil society organizations, private stakeholders or a combination of those?
