Nicaraguan Hackathon Technological Festival

The Nicaraguan Hackathon Technological Festival was a series of hackathons led by the National Technological Institute (INATEC) between 2017 and 2019. The aim of this innovation was to collectively ideate and prototype solutions to a wide range of social challenges in Nicaragua, based on the use of mobile and digital technologies. Young Nicaraguans were invited to participate as independent citizens, or as part of private enterprises in each of these events which lasted 2 consecutive days. At the end of the ideation phase, a jury elected the best teams and granted them a prize, with the goal of incentivizing the further development of their ideas.

Mode of Selection of Participants: is the innovation open to all participants, access is restricted to some kind of condition, or both methods apply?

Type of participants: those who participate are individual citizens, civil society organizations, private stakeholders or a combination of those?

Decisiveness: does the innovation takes binding, non-binding or no decision at all?
