Developing Applications and Infographics Nicaragua (DAIN)

Developing Applications and Infographics Nicaragua (DAIN) was a hackathon held in 2016, organized by the Institute of Strategic Studies and Public Policies (Ieepp) with support from USAID, the Central American University (IICA), Global Communities (GC) and Casa Pellas. The objective was to involve young university students from different disciplines and civil society organizations, in the design and creation of applications and infographics of public interest, with special interest in the national and municipal public budget, and in street safety. DAIN counted on the participation of about 120 young people divided into groups of up to 6 members. These groups used the open data of the observatories www.nuestropresupuesto.org and www.mipresupuestomunicipal.org, in addition to the information collected by public and private security organizations.
