Public Consultation to start the operation of the Thermoelectric Plant in Morelos

The ?Public Consultation to start the operation of the Thermoelectric Plant in Morelos? was organized by the Federal Government to get to know the opinions and views of the citizens regarding the start of operations of the Thermoelectric Plant of la Huexca, located in the municipality of Cuautla, Morelos. The consultation took place on February 23 and 24, and was conducted in the affected municipalities of the states of Morelos, Tlaxcala and Puebla, through which the gas pipeline connected to the Thermoelectric Plant of the Federal Electricity Commission crosses. According to the official results, 55,715 citizens participated in the consultation, from which 59.5% voted in favor of the project, while 40.1% voted against. During the public consultation, several protests and manifestations were registered, which led to the closure of several voting polls. As a result, and despite being the most affected state, Morelos registered the lowest number of votes.
