Provincial Committee for the Prevention of Torture
The Provincial Committee for the Prevention of Torture was created by Law No. 10,563 of the Legislature of Entre Ríos. It is a body whose members are appointed by the Provincial Legislative Power, the Sub-secretary of Human Rights of Entre Ríos and civil society organizations. The goal of the committee is to monitor that those who are deprived of their liberty in provincial prisons do not suffer torture or cruel, inhuman or humiliating treatment, so that their integrity and rights are respected. To this end, the Committee may carry out visits to the premises and conduct interviews. In 2020, the initiative has not yet been implemented.
