"Improving Confidence in Public Policies and Institutions" Project
The "Improving Confidence in Public Policies and Institutions" project was a 3-year initiative that started in 2009. It was carried out by a number of civil society organizations, which sought to build capacities among ordinary citizens and local civil society organizations, primarily in low-income communities and municipalities. Their activities focused on specific goals such as strengthening the ability of citizens to exercise their right to access to information. Furthermore, they carried out social auditing processes and followed up on recommendations focused on improving governance and transparency in public policies, projects, and services. Likewise, the project also sought to build capacities in local governments to provide information and accountability of their management within the framework of the Transparency Law, Municipalities Act and the Code of Ethics of Public Servants. The project focused on access to information processes, social auditing and accountability in critical sectors to reduce poverty (such as education, road infrastructure, local development and budget cycle.)

Frequency: how often does the innovation take place: only once, sporadically, or is it permanent or regular?
Mode of Selection of Participants: is the innovation open to all participants, access is restricted to some kind of condition, or both methods apply?
Type of participants: those who participate are individual citizens, civil society organizations, private stakeholders or a combination of those?
Decisiveness: does the innovation takes binding, non-binding or no decision at all?
Co-governance: is there involvement of the government in the process or not?
