Municipal Policy for the Protection of Children, Adolescents and Youth 2018-2021

The approval and implementation of the Municipal Policy for the Protection of Children, Adolescents and Youth 2018-2021 of San Antonio Sacatepéquez, San Marcos, was the result of a broad participatory process that allowed the contribution of children and adolescents of the municipality. Through the "We Raise Our Voices" project, a program was implemented to empower and train 40 minors of the municipality to carry out the negotiation and creation process of the municipal policy. At the same time, four citizen consultations were held with children and adolescents to identify the most urgent problems. The process also implemented proposal analysis sessions, information gathering rounds, and the formation of a committee to prepare the draft of the municipal policy. Finally, technical meetings were held to validate the proposal with municipal authorities, which resulted in the approval of the Municipal Policy for the Protection of Children, Adolescents and Youth 2018-2021.
